Ahh, the new year. A time for fresh starts, resolutions, and cleaning out that cluttered space that has been haunting you for months. Whether it's your overflowing closet, your chaotic kitchen, or that mysterious junk drawer that seems to include everything under the sun, it's time to tackle the mess and reclaim your space. But fear not, Saucemeup has some tips and tricks to make this everlasting task a little less overwhelming (and maybe even a little fun).

Start with a Plan: What's Your End Goal?

Before you dive headfirst into the abyss of clutter, take a moment to envision your ideal space. Do you dream of a simple oasis or a cozy, eclectic sanctuary? Knowing what you want to achieve will help you stay focused and motivated throughout the process. Plus, it gives you an excuse to browse Pinterest for hours on end for inspiration. Claiming your vision early on in will give you a clear direction on what to take on next.

Divide and Conquer: One Space at a Time

Trying to tackle your entire home in one go is like trying to eat an entire pizza in one bite (not recommended, unless you're a competitive eater, then carry on). Instead, break it down into manageable chunks or tasks. Start with one room or even one drawer, and work your way through the space methodically. Trust us, it's much more satisfying to see progress in one area than to feel overwhelmed by the mess everywhere.

The Three's Method: Keep, Donate, Toss

When faced with the daunting task of decluttering, it's easy to get stuck in decision paralysis. That's where the three's method comes into play. Grab three containers or bags and label them "Keep," "Donate," and "Toss." As you go through your belongings, place each item in one of the containers. Just remember, the "Keep" box should be the smallest one (yes we're talking about you, sentimental hoarders). If it is not used or needed donate or toss the rest!

Embrace the KonMari Method: Does It Spark Joy?

Marie Kondo, the absolute queen of tidying up, has a simple yet powerful question to ask yourself when deciding whether to keep or let go of an item: "Does it spark joy?" If the answer is a resounding "no," it's time to bid a farewell. Thank it for its service (yes, really) and let it go. Your space will thank you for it!

Get Creative with Storage Solutions

Now that you've decluttered like the champ that you are, it's time to find a home for everything that made the cut. Get creative with storage solutions that not only keep things organized but also add a touch of personality to your space. From cute containers to quirky wall hooks, the possibilities are endless. Who said organizing had to be boring? And if you have an obsession with the container store like we do, i'm sure storage won't be a problem.

Make It a Game: The 10-Minute Tidy-Up

Let's face it, cleaning can be a drag most of the time. But it doesn't have to be! Turn it into a game by setting a timer for 10 minutes and challenging yourself to tidy up as much as you can in that time. You'll be amazed at how much you can accomplish when you're racing against the clock. Plus, you can reward yourself with a well-deserved break and a snack (or two) afterwards.

Share the Joy: Donate and Give Back

Remember that "Donate" box we mentioned earlier? Now it's time to put it to good use. Instead of letting those unwanted items collect dust in your garage, donate them to a local charity or shelter. Not only will you be decluttering your space, but you'll also be making a positive impact on someone else's life. It's a win-win situation if you ask us.

So there you have it, my cleaning readers. With these tips in your back pocket, you're ready to conquer the clutter and start the new year with a fresh, organized space. Just remember to take breaks, have fun, and maybe blast some good music to keep you motivated. Happy cleaning!

Stay Saucy,

Saucemeup
